India compliance

What is Form C for hotels in India?

Form C is the report that hotels, guest houses and anyone else accommodating a foreign national in India must submit to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO). It records the foreign guest's passport, visa and stay details and must be filed within 24 hours of arrival.

What Form C needs

For each foreign guest you will need:

  • Passport number, place and dates of issue and expiry
  • Visa number, type, and dates of issue and expiry
  • Date and place of arrival in India
  • Address in the home country and the next destination
  • Arrival and intended departure dates at the hotel

Filing it

Form C is submitted online through the FRRO's portal, using the hotel's registered account. Collecting the details as part of check-in, on the guest registration card, avoids chasing the guest later. Rules can change, so check the current requirements with your local FRRO.

In StaySynq

StaySynq captures Form C details at check-in, remembers them for the guest's next stay and produces the Form C PDF.

Common questions

Is Form C needed for OCI card holders and NRIs?

Form C is for foreign nationals. Indian citizens living abroad (NRIs) are not foreign nationals. For OCI card holders, check the current FRRO guidance.

Does StaySynq file Form C for me?

StaySynq collects the details and produces the Form C PDF. You submit it on the FRRO portal yourself.
